The Mount Carmel Caravan (1-0) has seized the top spot after a thrilling 43-42 victory over Ohio’s Cincinnati Moeller. Similarly, Loyola (1-0) secured a tight 21-14 victory over Merrillville (Ind.), thanks to a late touchdown pass from sophomore Matthew Lee.
Beyond the top five, some teams made big statements in Week 1. Warren (1-0) saw a monster performance from Illinois commit Aaron Stewart, who rushed for 438 yards and six touchdowns. St. Rita (1-0) jumped into the top 10 after a dramatic 28-21 win against rival Marist, highlighted by a program-record-setting two-touchdown performance from quarterback Stephen Armbruster.
Three new teams have also entered the Illinois high school football top 25 rankings this week: Prairie Ridge (1-0), Glenbard West (1-0), and Glenbrook South (1-0), all earning their spots with impressive season-opening victories.
