Duxbury High football 2024 schedule

The Duxbury High football team, the defending Division 4 state champions, will kick off the fall season with a historic game against Abington. This will be Abington’s first game since longtime coach Jim Kelliher retired after 50 seasons. The Dragons will host the Green Wave on Friday, Sept. 6, as Abington’s new head coach, Ed Reilly, makes his debut. Duxbury secured the 2023 state title with a thrilling 62-33 victory over Scituate, thanks in part to a standout performance by senior running back Alex Barlow. This marked the Dragons’ second consecutive state championship and their fourth straight appearance in the final.
This year, MIAA football teams have an extra week to schedule games due to the calendar, with Labor Day falling on September 2nd and Thanksgiving on November 28th. The additional week, known as Week 1A, allows schools to schedule a maximum of eight games in the nine-week period between Labor Day and the cutoff date of November 3rd.
